What is a hero? According to the New Oxford Dictionary a hero is a "man or women who exhibits extraordinary bravery, firmness, fortitude, or greatness of soul, in any course of action, or in connexion with any pursuit, work, or enterprise"  And the Webster dictionary just simply states that a hero is "one that shows great courage" 

As I watched the events of the war in Iraq unfold, I came across the story of a young army private whom was captured when her 507th maintenance company took a wrong turn and was ambushed.  When I heard the miraculous news of her rescue on April 1 my heart was touched incredibly. 

I wanted to do a special section on this young girl to honor her,  to recognize her and simply say thank you to her for defending my freedom.  She has more bravery and courage then I know I do and most of us do.   It totally got me to thinking.  I thought to my self, my gosh, this young girl only 19 years old, who's just starting out in life and has a whole book full of blank pages to fill, is over there in Iraq, risking her life, for ME and you the reader!!!!  For OUR freedom. You  know that just hit me so hard, the incredible bravery and courage this young girl has.  Doing this all for me and for you so that this wonderful land we live in will remain free.  This whole thing really touched my heart.  I was in tears as I saw her being rescued and even through the ordeal and the hurt and pain she had to go through, she still manage to have a smile on her face as they wheeled her to safety.

I rejoiced with her family and praised God that her life was spared and that she was rescued.  So I just dedicated this small area of my Rachel site to you Jessica.  May God's peace and protection be upon you!!!

Jessica, you are with out a doubt, my hero!!!  And if someday, after this war is over with, you ever come across this page, I just want to say a very humble, "THANK YOU."  I ask God's blessings upon you. May the God of peace, bring you healing quickly to your body, heart and soul.  And I just pray that God will bless you once all this war is over, with a beautiful and wonderful life filled with joy and happiness.

I also pray for God's blessings upon this beautiful land that we live in.  May the war in Iraq be over with quickly.  God is in control and no matter what happens, the Creator of this universe has this world in His hands and one day He is returning to clean things up.
